KESS3 Protocol Release

31 july 2026

Upgrade 3.39

New OBD protocol for Continental GPEC4LM ECUs – Stellantis.

KESS3 and Powergate expand support for Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep and Peugeot petrol and hybrid engines.

With this update, KESS3 (and Powergate) allow you to work via OBD on Continental GPEC4LM ECUs, directly through the diagnostic port, to read and write the engine control unit, reducing the operations required to access the ECU and making the reprogramming workflow faster and more immediate.

The new protocol complements the already available BOOT mode and supports petrol and hybrid engines such as the 1.0, 1.3 FireFly, 1.5 48V Hybrid, 1.5 48V Hybrid VGT and 3.6 V6 Pentastar, fitted to city cars, saloons and SUVs produced from 2016 to the present for the main international markets.

The real benefits for the workshop:

  • Reading and writing through the diagnostic port
  • OBD or BOOT operational flexibility across different engines
  • Faster ECU management
  • New opportunities across the main Stellantis and former FCA brands
  • OBD management also available with Powergate
  • Possibility to work remotely on the customer’s vehicle

This new support allows workshops and tuners to work more flexibly on Continental GPEC4LM ECUs, choosing the connection best suited to the vehicle and the required operation on an ECU widely used across the latest Stellantis range.
