New ECM Titanium Drivers for EVPT VCU3000 - Citroën Ami, Fiat Topolino and Opel/Vauxhall Rocks-e.

Management of the speed limitation and torque request on Stellantis electric quadricycles.

Electric vehicles equipped with the EVPT VCU 3000 are configured as standard with certain limitations, managed by the control unit through strategies that regulate the electric motor’s power output. On Citroën Ami, Fiat Topolino and Opel/Vauxhall Rocks-e, managing the maximum speed and accelerator pedal response is therefore one of the operations most frequently requested by professionals working on these applications.

With the update to the dedicated Drivers, professionals can more quickly identify the main parameters used by the control unit to manage vehicle speed and accelerator pedal response, with a map organisation designed around real-world use.

Why does this update make a difference?

The new features allow direct intervention on:

Speed Limiter

The maximum speed of vehicles equipped with the EVPT VCU 3000 control unit is set to 45 km/h as standard. The calibration file does not contain a single map with a value expressed directly in kilometres per hour: the limitation is managed through different correction factors used by the ECU to reduce the electric motor’s power output when the set threshold is reached.

Managing the values associated with these factors makes it possible to adjust the strategy used by the control unit to govern the speed limitation, with a clear and structured technical approach.

Torque Request Under Standard Conditions

The map defines the percentage of torque requested from the electric motor during normal operating conditions, according to the accelerator pedal position.

Modifying the relevant parameters makes it possible to calibrate the torque request across the entire pedal travel, adjusting the progressiveness of the response and the electric motor’s power delivery.

Torque Request During Acceleration

This map manages the percentage of torque requested during acceleration, again according to the pedal position.

Adjusting the values makes it possible to define the torque request more precisely under dynamic conditions, adapting the responsiveness and progression of power delivery to the vehicle’s characteristics and the desired configuration.

The new Drivers are available in ECM Titanium and make it possible to identify and modify the main management strategies of the EVPT VCU 3000 control unit more quickly.

Thanks to a clear and consistent structure, the operation is more organised and aligned with professionals’ practical requirements: speed limiter management, torque request calibration and accelerator pedal response adjustment.

As with any calibration operation, modifications must be carried out by professionals and in compliance with the regulations applicable to the vehicle and its context of use.
