When replacing the mechanical part of a DSG gearbox, it may happen that units from different models are installed. In these cases, the gear ratios or final drive ratio may not match, causing incompatibility with the original TCU.
Thanks to ECM Titanium, you can solve this issue by remapping the dedicated ratio maps: in this way, the gearbox control unit correctly recognizes the values, calculates speed precisely, and optimizes shift points.
To recalibrate the TCU, the main maps to be modified are:
DSG gearboxes are equipped with a primary and a secondary shaft, concentric and connected to their respective clutches, managing even and odd gears. These parameters, in the map, describe the exact gear ratios and allow the ECU to correctly calculate speed and engine rpm.
By adjusting the ratios, you can ensure compatibility even with gearboxes from different origins and offer your customer a high-value technical service, avoiding costly TCU replacements.
In this case, we focus on one of the most common applications of the VAG group: the DSG DQ381 automatic gearbox of an Audi Q3.
After the gearbox failure, replaced with a unit from a different model, it was necessary to recalibrate the ratios to ensure compatibility between the mechatronic system and gearshift management:
By modifying the Gear Ratio, Primary Gear Ratio and Axle Gear Ratio maps, it is possible to align the values to the new gearbox’s gears, ensuring smooth, error-free shifting.
The result is perfect compatibility between gearbox and ECU, avoiding costly electronic replacements and ensuring the customer an efficient and cost-effective service.
